Mom’s Secret Recipe for Sanity: Coffee, Blogging, and a Splash of ‘Me Time’

In the whirlwind of being a working mom to two little ones, my “me time” is like a secret haven, fueled by two main ingredients: coffee and blogging. Now, if I spill the beans on my guilty secret, it’s that mom’s guilt creeps in every now and then. However, I’ve mastered the art of keeping those emotions in check. It’s a survival tactic for both me and my family. Or else, the mix of hormones and postpartum struggles might just sweep me away.

Before the magical blend of coffee and the tap-tap of blogging takes over, there’s someone special who gets the first slot in my priority list—Jesus. He’s the anchor that keeps me afloat in the stormy sea of daily chaos. Today, I’m dedicating this moment to myself, my cherished “me time.”

Now, why is this “me time” such a big deal for me? Let me spill the tea on that. I learned the hard way that pouring all of myself into others, even my beloved family, left me feeling drained and defeated after giving birth. Despite having a loving family, I was drowning in negative emotions.

Thankfully, my journal and daily devotions came to the rescue. The big lesson? To love others right, I had to love myself first. So, I started acknowledging my worth bit by bit, especially wrestling with low self-esteem. Don’t get me wrong; my family is my rock, but I needed to be proactive in my self-love journey. I’m a work in progress, far from perfect, but I’m trying!

So, fellow moms, take heed—there’s nothing wrong with a bit of “me time.” Inhale, exhale and let go of the guilt. Don’t feel bad for stealing a few kid-free hours; it’s a recharge for the sake of your loved ones. When I do this, I return to my daily life with a mind as clear as a blue sky.

It’s all about embracing the imperfections, finding happiness, and changing the lens through which we view our lives. Motherhood is a roller coaster, but hey, it’s the most epic role I’ve ever played in this grand production called LIFE. So, here’s to you, fellow moms—take a sip of your coffee, savor the moment, and indulge in some well-deserved “me time”! Cheers! 🌸☕️
